Kelly B. Dean

Kelly B. Dean joins Kirk and Teff, LLP, with 15 years of experience practicing before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board. She became interested in a legal career while working as a Consumer Advocate for the New York State Office of the Attorney General and simultaneously pursuing her undergraduate degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. She earned her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in 2008 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2009. After serving as in-house counsel for the Special Funds Conservation Committee, she moved to private practice in 2011. From 2018 until May 2024, she was a partner of an Albany-based defense firm. Kelly has extensive experience litigating workers’ compensation claims and has successfully argued many cases before the Appellate Division. She is also a frequent presenter at legal education courses and seminars on workers' compensation law and ethics.
